He wanted to become millionaire. He wanted all pleasures of life like any other human being would desire. But he was unfortunate. He had to incur heavy cost for each moment of pleasure.  He faced series of failures to find only one moment of success, but in vain. He thought sometimes that he should end life. He thought Guru would stop his misfortune. He gave in to Guru but to ruin himself materially. His last failure in life was disastrous and he found himself socially dead. Social death gave him insight. He came to know that success and failures were high and low tides. All the good and bad in life were like inner currents in the ocean. Everything was water.  In reality nothing had taken place in life. Everything was there, where it should have been. His false sense of attachment was the root cause of the sufferings. With the new vision given by Guru he searched God. He searched ultimate truth when he had nothing left with him of his own. He found to his dismay that he was him-”self” whom he was restlessly searching. He himself was a treasure of pleasure, not the world.

Treasure of Pleasure
Ramtek is a town in Nagpur District, Maharashtra State of India. The town is named after the name of God Prabhu Ramchandra, because the scriptures describe that the God had made a halt there while on expedition to Shri Lanka to rescue mother Sita.  There is a huge Ram Mandir at Ramtek built during 17th century by the then king Raghuji Raje Bhonsale. Many reputed astrologers and saints are born in Ramtek.  The town,  apart from ancient temple is known for the manganese quarries.  Damodar Bharatey,  father of Anil was engaged as a manager in one of the mining contractor firms.  He also would take small excavation contracts for mining.  He was a rich person, and was married to Pramila,  a woman from well to do farmer family.  The couple had a female child, but she died due to acute fever.  After that, there was no birth of child for about 5 years.  The couple propitiated Lord Guru Dutta with keeping austerity and doing all rituals of God for long time.  Their prayer was heard by God and they begot a male child on 12 th February 1949. The child was named as Anil, who then became Swami Aniljee, an enlightened saint. All the best food, toys and luxury items were made available to Anil in his childhood by his father.  He was enrolled in one of the best school and was taught by teachers at home too.  However, Anil’s progress in education was very poor.  He could hardly get the passing marks, because most of his time he would spent in reading story books and playing with friends.  He was a voracious reader and would continuously read books. Since childhood, like his parents Anil was also spending lot of time in God worship.  He would recite the Mantra given by his father continuously.   His father tried his best to improve his academic progress, but in vain.  When Anil was 12 year old, his father incurred losses in business as well as lost his job.  Within four-five years they became a poor family, because they had no income and had spent all the bank money.  Anil, understanding the problem started earning money at his age of 16.  He was learning in college and also earning money in part time jobs.

Probably, everybody who wants to follow the path of spiritualism or who is forced to follow this path has to undergo lot of difficult tests in life. Anil was not exception to this rule.  He faced great ordeals in his life.  Debts, poverty and failure were his companions till he renounced the world.  Anil was always appreciated by his friends to be an intelligent person.  He proved his capabilities as an artist, as a union leader, a poet and author, shrewd bank manager, good businessman, astrologer, expert in herbal medicines and a person with general knowledge in most of the subjects. He was often consulted by the people on various issues.  However, Anil’s own life was miserable.  He married in 1972 with Mangala a girl from middle class family, and begot a son and two daughters.  Anil would earn lot of money in business, but would soon lose all his profits due to sudden calamity in business and would again become a pauper.  He would then raise money for the next business, and again his rise and fall would be repeated. This continued throughout his life.  The life of insults, litigations and indebtedness would follow after loss in business every time.  He also suffered incarceration, and then left the worldly life forever in 2004.

Spiritual life
In the year 2003 when his Guru Khapti Maharaj died, Anil descended his Guru according to a will of his Guru.   He was with Khapti Maharaj since 1992, devoting almost all the time he gets after attending his business.   He always thought that his Guru would save him from the disastrous incidents in life.  But unfortunately, Guru’s blessings did not work, not did the prayers to God.  Anil knew Astrology well, because he had studied and started to make predictions on birth charts since 1975. He however, could not make his own decisions based on his own horoscope due to ambitious nature. He very well knew that he had to live unfortunate life, but was helpless, because he had to earn for his family. Any attempt of earning he made, was always met with the bad luck and failure. He only could understand and act upon his own inner voice after he attained self realization by the blessing of his Guru.  Since then, Anil probably became one of the happiest man in the world.

Anil had studied ancient scriptures like Vedanta, Sutras and Geeta  and commentaries from lot of sages.  He had read lot of saints’ literature.  However, he only knew the literal meaning of the ancient spiritual literature.  In the company of and in the service of age old enlightened Guru Hon. Khapti Maharaj, he could experience the knowledge what he had read.  In fact Anil was in service of Guru since 1980, when he first became disciple of Hon Nana Maharaj Taranekar, a famous saint from Indore. In the year 1992 Hon. Nana Maharaj died and Anil suddenly met Hon. Khapti Maharaj.  As if it was predestined, Khapti Maharaj made him disciple no. one and imparted all the knowledge he knew.

After self realization Anil thought that all the bad luck he faced in his life was for his betterment.  He would have never opted for spiritual life if he had been successful in his business, and would have spent all life in tensions.  God had given him unfortunate life only to make him an enlightened saint.  Anil realizing this, thanked God for all the troubles he faced in life.  He is not only enjoying the eternal bliss alone, but trying to share his knowledge and experience with all.

Swami Aniljee does not tell us much about his Sadhana (the way he adopted), but this is for sure that he is a greatest of the Indian saints and has experienced the existence of God with the help of his vast knowledge of scriptures and due to blessing of his Guru.
