I would like to be initiated into raja yoga. Ihave a strong desire for self realisation.

im a very miserable person.pl. tell me about the theory of karma & the relation ship between karma & our suffering.

Your questions are replied in short:
Raj Yoga is also known as Patanjala Yoga since it is explained in his book by Hon. Patanjal Rishi (saint or hermit).
"Yogashchitta-vritti-nirodha" is the first aphorism in the Raj Yoga written by Ho. Patanjal. This means, " Yoga (Raj Yoga) is the deliberate attempt to obstruct the (innumerable) good and bad thoughts in the mind called vrittis or natural tendency of mind.
The information about RajYoga and Patanajal yoga with all the aphorism is available on the Internet in thousands of websites.
The end product (achievement) of Raj yoga is Samadhi or the state of "pure consciousness". This does not mean "Self Realisation with the principles of Adwaita (non-duality) knowledge" The scriptures therefore, regard Raj Yoga inferior to JnanYoga. (the intellect yoga that gives experience of oneness with God).
I, Swami Aniljee, can't give lessons of Rajyoga on this site because it requires lot of personal guidance for the disciples that includes instructions for physical exercise.. I, Swami Anljee mostly preach JnanYoga (intellect yoga) on line, which is supposed to supreme most Yoga and the knowledge of Advaita Vedanta. I strongly believe that human being is different from other beings only due to his power of brain. God is said to be "knowledge" (jnanamaya) in old scriptures, hence any physical or respiratory exercise can't make one realise "self". is the opinion of the ancient hermits.
Guru only if he is "Brahmasakshatkari: (who has realised God and self, who has understood the principles of Shruti (oldest scriptures) well and who is able to take his disciple to the experience of "self" (God) -- can make the spiritual progress of his disciple. All other Gurus are useless as for as "Self Realisation" is concerned.
Initiation is the solemnisation of complete surrender to Guru by mind, body and belongings. It is said, and it is also experience of many that the great enlightened Gurus have made the life of their disciples divine and enlightened, and disciples to have sacrificed everything for Guru that they belonged including their bodies and minds.
Since the knowledge of "Self-realisation" is spiritual, it can't be learnt with normal five senses of human being. It is an experience of soul within the soul. So, the Great Gurus induce the knowledge in to disciples unlike education in the universities. This process may take several years or even no time, depending upon 1. immense love for God 2. Giving up of right on everything/ belonging for sake of Guru 3. Serving Guru actually like a slave 4. Obeying instructions of Guru 100% at any cost . 5. Loving Guru more than one's life. These four things takes one to actual experience of God, in almost all cases.

Karma theory is simple. As you sow as you reap. Whether you have performed
