Jnani understands and experience the presence of God in all his senses. Any religious man, devotee, cleric, priest, saint, professor, philosopher or a spiritual lecturer can’t guess about the knowledge of a Jnani. They do not understand the difference between a Jnani and themselves, because apparently a Jnani has nothing special to prove that he is Jnani. These people on number of occasion insult Jnani unknowingly. In the opinion of the author, Jnani is mostly insulted by the Professors and Philosophers who are the masters of the books. They can’t understand in their entire life as to what Jnani has different from them. The foolish Professors and Philosophers often try to teach Jnanis or make a show of their bookish knowledge before Jnanis. There are many forums like Yahoo Group on the internet and their members are Indians as well as foreigners who discuss Indian Shastras, like Advaita. One can find each post of a philosopher or a professor full of 100% ego and nescience cleverly written in very polite words, and fully intended to make a show of their knowledge for others. Professors and Philosophers have been academically trained to write in impressive language and speak before the audience. They are aware that they always get admiration about their oratory and writings from innocent devotees who want to listen to a word about God without bothering about who is speaking it form the stage and mike. The common people are impressed by degrees. In India large number of Professors and Philosophers choose the religious/spiritual field to gain popularity from the huge number of people. Religious field is a field of guarantee of success for them who are otherwise, great failures in their own academic faculty. A few Indian professors and philosophers have become great saints in the foreign countries due to their ability to deliver lectures on the Hindu scriptures. How is it possible for the foreigners to understand as to who is Jnani, when Hindus can’t understand him? The professors and the philosophers take the disadvantage of this doubtful condition and encash whatever little or big knowledge they possess from the books. All of us know number of such professor/philosopher turned saints and also know about the activities of their followers in all over the world.
The author generally meets with number of such professors/philosophers delivering lectures to public on the topics of God and religion, eternal knowledge and Yoga-meditation or even Upanishadas. They are generally found busy/interested in one or more of these, 1. Getting PHD 2. Telling wife and children or friends as to how they won laurels in the last night discourse 3. TV or newspaper or web coverage of their discourse/books/articles 4. Earning money 5. Getting garlanded etc. It will not be a wonder if you find any such religious professor/philosopher speaking on the subject of Vairagya (non-grasping), with his wife sitting next to him on the dais reminding him by whispering in to his ears to remind him to end the lecture quickly, because she had to perform in Bharat Natyam dance show after short time in some other theatre in the city. Readers can imagine the plight of this poor author who was on dais and tolerated a three hour lecture of a Philosopher-cum-Professor-Head of the Department- Hindi, who was speaking on Geeta and explaining the audience the character of Arjuna and as to how Arjuna was Sthitaprajna ! Thousands are the Indian Professors/Philosophers speaking on religion and spirituality, and thousands are the stories of their idiocies. Recently a woman wrote in “Times of India”, Mumbai about “spirituality”. I wrote her a message asking what does she understand by spirit or spirituality. She did not reply.
